Blessed Autumn Equinox

Well today is the first day of autumn! The autumnal equinox is the halfway point between our longest and shortest days of the year — a time when Earth and the sun seem to stand in geometrical balance. Autumn represents the preservation of life and its basic necessities. During this time, animals prepare for the winter by storing food and creating cozy hibernation spaces. Farmers work on their fall harvest by collecting a reserve of crops. The word “equinox” comes from Latin and means “equal night,” referring to the roughly 12-hour day and 12-hour night that occurs only on the two equinox days of the year.

For all my fellow witchy friends, it is time to make a gratitude list, do a super deep clean of the home, get rid of unwanted or unused items, and release negativity. Make sure you have the following scents filling your alter space or home:

Cinnamon - Which is associated with the element of fire and of the sun. It smells really good and fills the room with a warm, comfy feeling, especially nice on cold winter days.

Clove - Used in magick to attract good luck and prosperity, to keep good friends close, and to help stop malicious gossip.

Apple - Apples are sacred to many Goddesses including Aphrodite, Iduna, Freya, Pomona, Eris and through various folklore, Apples are associated with love, fidelity, fertility, marriage, beauty, vanity, wisdom, the soul, the afterlife and immortality. Apples are arguably the most magical and symbolism-laden of fruits.

Have your autumn crystals out:

Crystal Quartz - For clarity of outlook and optimism for the coming season.

Amber - Hold it for reassurance of prosperity and protection.

Aquamarine - Seek balance and harmony at this transitional moment of the year.

Opal - Reflect on the summer days and visualize what you'd like to achieve in the Autumn.

Malachite - Be mindful and accepting of change as the summer turns towards autumn.

Sardonyx - As we accept that the sun's heat will fade, enjoy the stability and happiness of the season.

Did you know that there is an actual Witchipedia? Neither did I until today....lol http://www.witchipedia.com/

Last but not least, an array of Mabon goodies:

Until next time..........enjoy the fall season, colors, scents, bonfires, family, friends, cool and crisp days!
